Although the scope and focus of the day to day activities within the role will change dependent on business requirements, the following should be considered the core activities:
Main responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting and supporting day-to-day Windows PC and Mac queries and problems.
- Building and configuring new PCs to standard build specifications of OS and applications.
- Setting up and moves of desktop and related hardware.
- Installation and configuration of software.
- Configuring desktop and related hardware for domain migration.
- Monitoring help ticket queue and escalating to relevant team/team member where relevant.
- Assisting with backup and recovery.
Experience
Essential
- At least 5 years of experience in a desktop support role
- Experience of configuring and networking Microsoft Windows based computer systems, ideally Windows 7 Professional and XP Professional.
- Experience in user or customer support.
- Experience of building/upgrading Intel-based PC systems.
- Knowledge of the Internet beyond the World Wide Web.
Desirable
- Relevant IT qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Exposure to Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Experience supporting BlackBerry.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Office.
- Experience supporting Mac OS X
