Short Message Service (SMS) or text messaging is the most popular communication vehicle in the world. Over 8 trillion text messages were exchanged worldwide in 2011, and SMS traffic is expected to grow to nearly 10 trillion by 2015. The typical U.S. mobile subscriber sends and receives more text messages than he does mobile phone calls.
As such, text banking has been a key part of our solution from its very first release. Subsequent releases have extended the company's lead in this area with technologies to manage scalability, deal with disparate SMS aggregator capabilities and add state management so that the SMS channel can be used as a vehicle for two-way, actionable alerts.
Today, our text banking capabilities include a comprehensive suite of mobile banking and payment SMS commands to retrieve account information and initiate transactions – including the ability to obtain account balances, transfer funds, view transaction history, pay bills and locate branches or ATMs. Additionally, text banking is utilized as one of the delivery channel for actionable, smart and cross-modal alerting capabilities.
